Plymouth Arts Centre has appointed Kate Sparshatt as Executive Director.
Andrew Brewerton, Chair of Trustees, says:
'On behalf of the Trustees of Plymouth Arts Centre, I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Kate Sparshatt to the permanent position of Executive Director, a rôle she has undertaken in an acting capacity in a year of transformational achievement at PAC.
This has been a period of intense activity in which, amongst other things, we have seen: the refurbishment of, and enhanced access to, our Looe Street building; the achievement of Arts Council National Portfolio funding status; and the successful delivery of British Art Show 7 as a partner in the Plymouth Visual Arts Consortium.
I am grateful for the engagement and support of Arts Council England, Plymouth City Council and the Plymouth Culture Board in Kate’s appointment, and we look forward to working with her on ambitious development plans for the visual arts, and for independent cinema in, and for, the city of Plymouth.'
Commenting on Kate’s appointment, Adrian Vinken, Chief Executive of Theatre Royal and Pavilions and Chair of the Plymouth Culture Board, says: 'PAC has played a major rôle in the cultural life of Plymouth over the last year and I’m delighted that Kate will continue to lead the Arts Centre’s important contribution towards achieving our vision to be a successful and vibrant, waterfront city.’
Before joining Plymouth Arts Centre, Kate Sparshatt was a consultant in business planning and management to the cultural sector, working with clients across all art forms.
