About Us

"I just want to be there."
The Guardian
"It's a cinema, it's a gallery, it's a cafe - it's Plymouth's cultural HQ and the centre of the city's artistic life. With a range of bold exhibitions and projects that aim to bring local people together, Plymouth Arts Centre has a reputation for innovation."
The Big Issue
"If Plymouth Arts Centre didn't exist then we would have to invent it. I never cease to be intrigued."
Friend of Plymouth Arts Centre
"Just had to drop you a quick line and say thank you for a brilliant night out last night. Five of us came for dinner and to see the film and we had the most brilliant time. The food was top class and we all really enjoyed it and thought it was excellent value. We all own guest houses in Plymouth and will definitely be recommending you".
Four Seasons Guest House
Plymouth Arts Centre is a nationally-renowned centre for contemporary visual art, independent cinema and creative learning.
We want to share in making Plymouth a vibrant cultural city, engaging and stimulating our visitors and the local community with our dynamic arts programme and the warmth of our welcome.
The historic building is close to the city centre and Barbican waterfront. It occupies a key place in the cultural life of the city. Our cafe, bar and restaurant, offers the ideal meeting place; serving a great selection of morning coffee, light lunches, drinks, snacks and Cinema suppers.
Access
There is level access to Plymouth Arts Centre’s ground floor including the reception, front gallery, cinema, cafe bar and accessible WC. We regret that the first floor is only accessible by stairs: which includes an exhibition display and additional restaurant seating. The cinema features an infrared hearing loop system. There are two spaces for wheelchair users in the cinema, please inform our Box Office if you would like to use them, phone: 01752 206114. Our brochure and printed material are available in large print from the Box Office.
