Dir. Jill Craigie, UK, 1947, 64 mins.

It seems that we just can’t get enough of this wonderful film, and quite right too! For the third time since the summer, we are screening Jill Craigie’s film about the radical post-war plan for the development of Plymouth. Made in 1947, while the city was still reeling from the Blitz, the film shows the conception of the Watson-Abercrombie plan for the rebuilding of the city, seen through the eyes of one family. It is a genuinely remarkable record of the devastation of Plymouth and gives a unique insight into the fortitude of its people during a period of unimaginable hardship. Early booking is highly recommended.
