Dir. Robert B. Weide, UK/US, 2008, 110 mins.
Cast. Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Bridges, Danny Huston, Gillian Anderson.

Names have been changed to protect the innocent – and the not so innocent – in this adaptation of Toby Young’s wonderfully acerbic memoir of his disastrous time at Vanity Fair magazine. Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) stars as Young’s alter ego; while Jeff Bridges is a Graydon Carteresque editor who learns to regret taking on the bright young Brit writer. Young’s memoir was the tale of his naked ambition thwarted by arrogance and crass stupidity; rumour has it that he was thrown off the set after trying to tell the actors how to do their job!
