When Ruben (German de Silva), a solitary long distance lorry driver, agrees to drive single mother Jacinta (Hebe Duarte) and her adorable baby from rural Uruguay to Buenos Aires, the atmosphere is initially strained. Somewhere along the 1500 kilometres, however, the pair slowly let their guards down, get to know one another, and forge the foundation of, perhaps, something deeper. Both factors give careful, nuanced performances set almost entirely within the confines of the cramped lorry cab: this is a slow-burning, intimate and utterly enchanting road movie that scooped the prestigious Camera d’Or prize at Cannes for best new filmmaker.
